Nutritionist Alexey Bereznikov has given his expert opinion on the benefits and possible risks of drinking kombucha, a drink also known as Kombucha. According to the specialist, during fermentation, valuable ascorbic acid is produced in this product, which has a positive effect on the immune system. According to Bereznikov, kombucha can be effective in treating sore throats, RIA Novosti reports.
The doctor also drew attention to the potential benefits of the drink for those diagnosed with atrophic gastritis, accompanied by a lack of digestive enzymes. At the same time, Bereznikov warned that drinking kombucha is undesirable for peptic ulcers, including during exacerbations. This drink is also contraindicated for patients with chronic pancreatitis.
The expert explained that during fermentation, a consortium of microorganisms is formed in Kombucha, which synthesizes ascorbic acid. It is this component, according to Bereznikov, that can have a positive effect on the immune system, including helping to treat sore throats.
Speaking about the benefits of kombucha for atrophic gastritis, the specialist noted that this drink can be useful for people suffering from a lack of digestive enzymes. However, regarding other diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, such as peptic ulcer disease or chronic pancreatitis, Bereznikov spoke more cautiously, warning about the undesirability of drinking kombucha in such cases.
Despite the obvious healing properties of the drink, based on the content of valuable biologically active substances, the nutritionist emphasized the importance of an individual approach to its use. Bereznikov recommended being careful and taking into account the characteristics of the body of each individual person in order to avoid possible negative reactions.
