Baking powder - 0.5 tsp
Soda - 0.25 tsp (optional)
Kefir - 125 ml (as needed)

1. Prepare the components according to the list.
2. Heat a skillet over medium heat.
3. Measure the wheat flour into a bowl.
4. Add salt, baking powder and mix thoroughly.
5. Gradually, while stirring the dry ingredients, pour in the kefir.

7. You will get a soft, slightly sticky and fairly thick dough.
8. Transfer the dough to a floured surface.
9. Since the baking powder immediately takes effect with kefir, the dough is practically not kneaded. A few light movements with floured hands to form the dough into a ball, and then you can immediately begin to form cakes.
10. Flatten the dough on the board with the palm of your hand to a thickness of about 1-1.5 cm.
11. With a knife, divide the resulting circle into four parts.
12. The resulting quarters are the traditional shape for farls.
13. Sprinkle the hot pan with a pinch or two of wheat flour (so the cakes do not burn) and put the dough in the pan.
14. Fry the cakes over medium heat, uncovered, 7-10 minutes on one side.
15. When the bottom side of the cakes is browned and hardened, and the dough rises slightly, turn the cakes over and fry on the other side for another 7-10 minutes.
16. Check the readiness of the cakes with a wooden skewer or a toothpick
17. Pierce the cakes with a skewer, and if the skewer is dry, the cakes are ready.
