It was invented by Italian emigrants who moved to America, where there was always a lot of beef. It is for this reason that this cooking option has gained great popularity. And this is good news, because now we have a recipe for such an Italian-American pasta.
Spaghetti with meatballs in tomato sauce

Spaghetti - 450 gr
Ground beef - 450 gr
Breadcrumbs - 1/3 tbsp.
Parsley - ¼ tbsp. in a broken state
Parmesan - ¼ grated + for serving
Egg - 1
Garlic - 3 cloves
Red pepper flakes - ½ tsp
Olive oil - 2 tbsp.
Onion - ½ chopped
Canned tomatoes - 800 gr
Bay leaf - 1 pc.
Freshly ground black pepper

1. Cook the pasta in a large pot of salted boiling water until al dente. Drain the water.
2. Separately, in a large bowl, mix beef with breadcrumbs, chopped parsley, grated Parmesan, egg, finely chopped garlic, 1 teaspoon salt, and red pepper flakes. Blend until smooth, then shape into 16 balls.
3. Heat oil in a large saucepan over medium heat. Add the meatballs and cook, turning occasionally, until browned on all sides, about 10 minutes. Transfer meatballs to a plate.
4. Add the onion to the same pot where the meatballs were fried and cook until softened, 5 minutes. Add chopped tomatoes and bay leaf, stir. Season with salt and pepper and bring to a boil. Return the meatballs to the pot and cover with a lid. Simmer until sauce thickens, 8 to 10 minutes.
5. Remove from heat, add cooked spaghetti to the pan, stir.
6. Serve pasta with a serving of meatballs and sauce. Sprinkle with parmesan before serving.
