Today we will cook the most famous and simplest dish that lives firmly on the menu of every American family - Mac and Cheese or American Macaroni and Cheese.

American Macaroni and Cheese is prepared in two ways. The first option: prepare Bechamel sauce with the addition of cheese, pour boiled pasta with this sauce and serve the dish to the table. The second option: everything is done in the same way as in the first option, only macaroni and cheese are also baked in the oven.

Pasta hollow - 300 g

Cheddar cheese - 100 g

Hard cheese - 200 g

Flour - 60 g

Milk - 300 ml

ground red paprika - to taste

1. Cooking pasta and bechamel with cheese at the same time. Boil water in a saucepan, salt it and pour pasta. Cook the pasta according to package instructions, leaving it to cook for 2-3 minutes from the time indicated.

2. In the meantime, prepare the cheese sauce. Dissolve the butter in a saucepan and add flour to the butter, mix the flour and butter well with a wooden spoon or whisk to get a homogeneous pasty mass.

3. Now slowly pour milk into the saucepan and actively beat everything with a whisk so that the flour dissolves in milk and brews.

4. This is how the sauce should look like. Thick and smooth.

5. We rub the cheeses on a medium grater.

6. Add the cheeses to the saucepan and mix well with a spatula or whisk so that the cheese melts.

7. As soon as the mass becomes thick and smooth, immediately remove the sauce from the heat so that it does not burn.

8. IMPORTANT: do not salt the saucebecause the cheeses themselves are very salty, and we have also salted the pasta.

9. Drain water from boiled pasta.

10. We shift the pasta into the cooked sauce.

11. Add all the spices, try the dish for salt and add salt if necessary. Some Americans at this stage already take forks and spoons and gobble up macaroni and cheese on both cheeks.

We're moving on.

12. We spread the pasta in cheese sauce in refractory portioned forms.

13. Sprinkle pasta with grated cheese on top and send the molds to the oven, heated to 180 degrees C, for 15-20 minutes.

14. Serve American-style ready-made macaroni and cheese hot, right in the molds.
