It is a sauce, a snack, a dressing, and a spread on bread. There are as many options for using this onion with sour cream as your imagination suggests.

Ингредиенты

Onions - 600 g

Vegetable oil - 3 tbsp

Sour cream - 2 tbsp

Salt and pepper - to taste

1. Peel and rinse the onion.

2. Cut the onion into small cubes. There are many ways to avoid crying while cutting onions, but I don’t use any of them, since the phytoncides in onions are very useful. So, cut, inhale and heal yourself to tears!

3. Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan over high heat and put the chopped onion in it.

4. Fry for the first 5-7 minutes over the highest heat, since there is a lot of moisture in the onion and it should evaporate. Then switch to medium heat and continue frying the onion until a good golden color. The onion should become soft and very crispy. Do not forget to stir it periodically and do not cover the pan with a lid under any circumstances. It took me about 15 minutes to fry until golden brown.

5. Now you need to remove as much oil from the fried onion as possible. To do this, use a spatula to rake the onions to one side of the pan, tilt it slightly and place a cutting board or a rolled-up towel under one side of the pan. Leave the pan like this for a few minutes and wait until all the oil has drained. Then carefully scoop the oil out of the pan with a teaspoon. You don't need it in this dish.

6. But don't throw it away under any circumstances! The oil from fried onions has such a divine aroma, you can use it, for example, to dress a vegetable salad, vinaigrette or pour it over boiled potatoes. You can even fry a steak or scrambled eggs in this oil.

7. And add sour cream, a pinch of salt and pepper to taste to the warm fried onions.

8. Mix everything together and the dish is ready!

9. Fried onions with sour cream taste best when warm. But cooled down is also good. It's a matter of taste.
