Piri-piri chicken

This chick will not leave anyone indifferent! The Portuguese are proud of this dish, although it has African roots that go back to the former Portuguese colonies. "Piri-piri" is what they call chili peppers in Portugal. It is on this basis that the famous "Piri-piri" sauce is prepared. I make this sauce myself at home, but you can now buy it in large supermarkets.

And what kind of chicken turns out after marinating in this sauce is hard to describe, you need to cook it! Which is what I suggest you do now. Piri-piri chicken is a spicy dish, since this sauce is similar to Tabasco sauce, so be careful when adding it to the marinade. Prepare all the products and let's get started!

Chicken - 600 g

Lemon juice - 1 tbsp

Piri-piri sauce - 1.5 tbsp

Garlic - 2 cloves

Bell pepper - 1 pc

Olive oil - 1 tbsp

Whiskey (or wine vinegar) - 50 ml

Salt and ground black pepper - to taste

1. Peel fresh bell peppers, remove seeds and stems. Puree the pepper pieces in a blender.

2. Prepare the marinade in a small bowl: add the bell pepper puree, press the garlic, pour in the piri-piri sauce.

3. Add whiskey or wine vinegar, 1 tbsp. lemon juice and olive oil. Add salt and ground black pepper to taste.

4. Remove the rib bones from half a chicken or hen.

5. Brush the marinade on all sides of the chicken half, cover the bowl with the marinated chicken with cling film, put it in the refrigerator and leave it there to marinate for 2 hours.

6. Remove the chicken from the marinade, do not throw away the marinade. Place the grill pan on the fire and heat it up, fry half of the chicken on one side for 4-5 minutes.

7. Turn the meat over and cook for another 5 minutes on the other side. Each time, while one side of the chicken is frying, grease the top with the remaining marinade. Then turn the meat over again, fry it for 4-5 minutes on one side, grease the top of the chicken with the marinade and then fry it for the same amount of time on the other side. As a result, in 20-25 minutes you will get the most delicious piri-piri chicken!

8. The piri-piri chicken is ready! Serve it with fresh bread and a vegetable salad.
