Juicy stewed cabbage with sausage will become a real lifesaver for busy housewives. This delicious dish can be assembled from just 2 ingredients: white cabbage and sausage, which you can find in your refrigerator. If you wish, you can add fresh or frozen mushrooms, greens, bell peppers and other vegetables.

white cabbage 1 ½ kg
boiled-smoked sausage 500 g
onions 2 pcs.
tomato paste 25 g
carrots 2 pcs.
salt to taste
vegetable oil to taste

1. Peel and wash the cabbage and cut it into medium-thick strips. Peel the onion and cut it into small cubes or half rings. Grate the carrots.
2. Take a deep frying pan or a saucepan with a thick bottom. Pour vegetable oil into it and heat it up. Add the onion and carrot one by one. Fry them over high heat until soft.
3. Next, add the sausage. First, cut it into circles about 5 mm thick. If the diameter of the sausage you have chosen is larger than in the photo, cut the circles into 2-4 pieces.
4. Fry the sausage with carrots and onions for 2-3 minutes. Then add the cabbage. It’s okay if there’s a lot of it at first — the cabbage will settle during the stewing process. Salt the dish, stir gently. Turn the heat down to minimum.
5. Cover the dish with a lid. Simmer for 12-15 minutes. Then add the tomato paste. Stir everything again, cover again with a lid. If the cabbage starts to burn during the process, pour in a little water. Simmer until done. This will take about 35-45 minutes. Enjoy!
