Millet cereal is traditionally added to this type of soup; you can take the rest of the vegetables at your discretion. In field conditions - during cattle drives, field work, in military operations - such soup was cooked from cereals and what was available was added: onions, lard, stewed meat, some herbs and root vegetables. The more additives there were, the richer and more satisfying the soup was.

Рецепт
1. You can prepare kulesh in different ways; I offer a recipe that is convenient to use over a fire in a cauldron. You need to cut the onions and carrots into small cubes, and garlic into petals.
2. Pour oil into the pan and lightly simmer the onions and garlic in it - the aroma will immediately make your family wait for the end of cooking. If you like everything fried, you can fry the vegetables well.
3. Then add the carrots and continue stewing or frying, remembering to stir with a spatula.
4. Cut the peeled and washed potatoes a little larger.
5. Add it to the pan, add water, maybe hot - it will cook faster.
6. Wash the millet well - in 3-4 waters.
7. Let's put it in the soup too. Cook until the potatoes are ready.
8. Meanwhile, let’s open a jar of stew, I have homemade pork. Let's add it to the kulesh.
9. Bring the soup to a boil, add salt.
10. You can use tomatoes for the dressing - this will make the kulesh with stewed meat much more beautiful and appetizing (but, as I already said, additives are optional, add them to your taste).
11. Season the soup with your favorite spices, tomatoes and herbs. Simmer a little more under the lid.
12. Our kulesh is ready! Serve the soup with fresh herbs; some people like to season it with sour cream.
