Light wheat squares

Great snack to take away.

This recipe for flaky wheat squares has been around for a very long time. This is one of those recipes that you can't mess up. Instead of cutting it into squares, you can sometimes squeeze the cereal mixture into cupcake liners to make them perfect for school lunches. Usually they do not stay long in the house.

8 cups airy wheat porridge

⅓ cup unsalted butter

1 cup packaged brown sugar

½ cup corn syrup

2 tablespoons cocoa powder

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Рецепт

Pour cereal into a large bowl.

Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium-low heat.

Add brown sugar, corn syrup, cocoa powder and vanilla; cook until mixture starts to bubble, 5 to 10 minutes.

Remove from heat and pour over cereal.

Stir until cereal is completely coated and transfer to a 9x13 inch baking dish.

Press down with an oiled spatula to flatten and cut into 24 squares.

Alternatively, squeeze the mixture into two 12-cup muffin tins.
